EPR researches of biological deposits of Caspian region

Object of research. Objects of research were mainly the oil-bearing rocks, bones of the mineral animals, teeth, shells of the mollusks of sea deposits of Caspian the cavity.
The purpose of the work. To study paramagnetic characteristics of the minerals of the shells of the mollusks, teeth enamel of sharks, the mammoths, and sedimentary oil-bearing rocks of the Caspian cavity and production on this basis of the paramagnetic and physical-chemical criteria which have the important role under the determination of the mineralogical composition of the researched natural objects.
Method or methodology of carrying on work. In the work the value and the authenticity of results of the study of paramagnetic characteristics such complex natural objects as sedimentary oil-bearing rocks, bones and teeth of animals, the shell of the mollusks of the sea deposits were developed on the basis of the application of set of the modern physical-chemical methods (EPR, IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, the X-ray fluorescent analysis, the thermal analysis).
Results of the work. For the first time by the method of EPR spectroscopy were discovered that in the spectra of the Holocene and Pleistocene shells collected in the Caspian region there are fixing lines from two ions of manganese, caused by their introduction into the aragonite and the calcite structure of the shell.
There was made a transformation of the aragonite structure of shells (Novokaspiyskoe deposit and Khvalynskoe deposit) into the calcite structure. As a result there was developed a method of determining the geological age of aragonite minerals based on different content of aragonite and calcite structure, determined by the intensity of the corresponding lines of IR spectra.
There were studied with the method of EPR spectroscopy radiation- induced the anion- radical contained in the enamels teeth of Pleistocene mammoths and shark of the Paleogene period. In the enamels of these teeth there have been discovered organic free radicals as isopril and lipid peroxide radicals.
There were used the spectral characteristics of EPR signals, caused by ion M and “A- center”и for the identification of carbonate (aragonite, calcite, dolomite) and clay minerals (kaolinite) contained in the sedimentary oil-bearing rocks of the Caspian cavity.
Field of application. The results of the study can be used in paleontology, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, mineralogy, geology and the chemical industry.
The economic effectiveness of the work. The economic effectiveness of conducted researches by the set of modern physical-chemical methods and with the application of developed (by ourselves) original research methods and technologies of the oil-bearing rocks, bones and teeth of the minerals of the animal, the shells of the mollusks of the sea deposits directly connected to the rapidity of the analyses, supersmall volume of studied samples, not by the destructibility of the represented studied samples.
